In support of our objective for the ongoing development of players and to provide learning opportunities for community based coaches, Rivers’ actively promotes and encourages coaches to attend FFA accreditation courses. In 2017 Rivers will once again host a Grassroots Football program. Football Queensland offers this course free of charge to all participants. This will be held at the club. Further details to come. Coaches wishing to progress to the next level of their coaching certificate (i.e. Junior and / or Youth) can do so by booking an available course on Football Queensland’s website (www.footballqueensland.com.au). Rivers recognises the value of coaches who attend these courses and, as such, will fully reimburse participants for the cost of these courses over a two-year period. For further information, please contact Rivers’ Football Committee.
Training sessions are held during the week in which players are taught new skills and practice technique and tactics, often culminating in a practice match. It is important that players attend all training sessions for their team. If a player cannot attend a training sessions, the Team Manager or Coach should be contacted.
Shin pads MUST be worn at all training sessions.
(Coaches will be notified as they are appointed)
Pine Rivers United are delighted to announce the Coaching line up for 2017
Capital League 2 – Mr Mitchell Bush
Mitchell has been playing the game for 10 years, 6 of which has been with our successful City League team. He has stood up and coached the team over the past two years leading them to a Premiership and Grand Final double in 2016 and a Grand Final win in 2015 after finishing 3rd in the season proper. Mitch’s goal this year will be to create a Community Club with a focus on increasing player depth and ability. We welcome Mitchell to the top job and wish him every success in the role.
Capital League 2 Reserves – Mr Neil Reed
Neil Reed was the assistant coach in 2016 as he was unable to play due to a serious knee injury resulting in a full reconstruction the year before. Neil has played at the highest level in Brisbane XXXX and Premier League and brings a wealth of experience back to Rivers in 2017. He is looking forward to working closely with Mitchell in the coming season.
Under 18 Youth – Mr Ben Winlaw
Ben Winlaw has been involved with the club for 3 years in the junior coaching ranks and steps up this year to take the U18. Previous to this he coached and played at Brisbane City and Brisbane Knights. We whole heartedly welcome Ben to the PRUSC Senior Football family.
Training commence Tuesday 22nd November 6.45pm for 7.00pm start.
City League 3 Women – Mr Keith Blackwood
After a long playing history at numerous amateur levels in the UK I took up coaching over 10 years ago. Starting under the UEFA Grassroots Program achieving my advanced coaching certificates in both the Children (5-12) and Youth (13-17) Pathways. Upon moving to Australia I continued my coaching and playing, completing my FFA Senior Certificate I and II, as well as my FFA Senior License. I intend to complete my FFA/AFA “C” License this coming season.
I have coached teams of all ages and abilities and for three of the last four years have been coaching the Senior Women’s teams at Pine Rivers. In this time, I have taken one team to a City League Championship and three teams to the City League Grand Finals, winning two of them.
My coaching style is to be inclusive and my training ground focus is very much on individual player development over the season, encouraging players to develop techniques, and practice them in a training environment in order to give them confidence to take these skills in to a game situation. While working in the dressing room toward increasing team understanding of strategy and team play in a game scenario.
For anyone interested, there is training on a Saturday morning commencing at 8.00am
A MESSAGE FROM THE D.O.C. – 2016 Roundup
A BIG THANK YOU GOES TO ALL THE COACHES WHO WENT AROUND AGAIN FOR ANOTHER SEASON.YOUR EFFORTS ARE MUCH APPRECIATED. ALSO TO THE NEW COACHES WHO TOOK ON COACHING A TEAM THIS YEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME – I CANNOT THANK YOU ALL ENOUGH.
TO ALL THE MANAGERS – THANKYOU FOR YOUR TIME AND EFFORT, YOU ARE MUCH APPRECIATED.
TO RUSSELL SCRIVEN, ASHLEIGH KAISER AND CHRISTINA O’BRIEN – THANKYOU FOR LOOKING AFTERTHE SQUIRTS PROGRAM THIS YEAR.
TO ALL THE NON-COMPETITIVE TEAMS – WELL DONE. THE IMPROVEMENT IN ALL TEAMS FROM THE FIRST GAME TO THE LAST WAS EXCELLENT.
THE COMPETITIVE TEAMS – HOW THE LANDSCAPE CHANGES. WE HAVE ONLY ONE DIVISION 1TEAM (U16). NOT TOO LONG AGO, PINE RIVERS HAD DIV 1 TEAMS IN ALL AGE GROUPS. WE HAD BOYS LIKE ROBBIE KRUSE, ADAM SAROTA, OMAR HAMID, WAYNE HEATH, DANNY DACEY, NICK WADDELL AND CHRIS ROULSTON – WHO HAVE ALL PLAYED FOR AUSTRALIA AT SOME LEVEL.
THEY COULD ALL JUGGLE THE BALL AND KEEP IT UP FOR AT LEAST 800 TIMES, MINIMUM. THAT DOESN’T MAKE A GREAT PLAYER I KNOW, BUT AT LEAST THEY WERE OUT PRACTISING WITH THE BALL. – IF THEY COULDN’T JUGGLE, LEFT FOOT, RIGHT FOOT, BOTH FEET, THEY COULD NOT TRY OUT FOR THE BRISBANE NORTH TEAMS. IF YOU WISH TO PURSUE A FOOTBALL CAREER TO THE NEXT LEVEL, PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.
TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE GOT PLENTY TO SAY RE COACHING ETC, BUT DO NOT VOLUNTEER TO TAKE A TEAM – HERE IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE A GO. THERE ARE PLENTY OF COURSES AVAILABLE.
ALSO WOULD LIKE TO SAY A SPECIAL THANKS TO BARRY WHITE AND MARGARET HALE WHO HAVE BOTH BEEN AT PINE RIVERS FOR THE PAST 25 YEARS. BARRY STARTED OFF AS A JUNIOR COACH, AND WAS THEN INVOLVED ON THE SENIOR EXECUTIVE OF PINE RIVERS, AND WAS A MANAGER OF BRISBANE AND QUEENSLAND TEAMS.
MARGARET WAS A TOP ADMINISTRATOR AND SENIOR EXECUTIVE AT PINE RIVERS, BRISBANE AND QUEENSLAND. THANK YOU BOTH FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE GAME AND SORRY TO SEE YOU GO.
SEE YOU AT THE FAR POST ,
