Code of Conduct

For Players

  •    Play by the rules and know the rules
  •   Abide by a decision, without argument or bad temper
  •   Train hard to see an improvement in your team’s performance as well as you own
  •   Be a good sport – applaud all good plays no matter which team was responsible
  •   Treat all players as you expect to be treated.  Do not bully or take unfair advantage of any other player
  •   Co-operate with your coach, team mates and as well, your opponents – all are required for the game to commence.
  •   Play for the enjoyment of it and not just to please parents and coaches
  •   Avoid use of derogatory language.

For Parents

  •    Do not force an unwilling child to participate in sports
  •   Remember, children are involved in organized sport for their enjoyment
  •   Focus on the child’s efforts and performance rather than winning or losing
  •   Encourage your child to always participate according to the rules
  •   Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game
  •   Children learn best by example – your appreciation of good play by the opposition is most important
  •   Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities
  •   Respect officials’ decisions and teach your child to do likewise
  •   Show appreciation for work carried out by volunteer coaches, officials and administrators.  Without them the  Club would not exist to enable your child to participate
  •   Avoid use of derogatory language.

  For Coaches

  •   Children play for pleasure and winning is only part of the fun
  •   Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing
  •   Be reasonable in your demands on player’s time, energy and enthusiasm
  •   Teach your players to follow the rules
  •   Avoid overplaying the talented players at the expense of the just-average – all deserve equal time
  •   Make sure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of the players under your guidance
  •   Develop team respect for the ability of opponents and for the judgement of officials and opposing coaches
  •   Keep up-to-date with the latest coaching practices and principles concerning the growth and development in the younger age groups

For Administrators

  •    Involve young people, wherever possible, in the planning, leadership, evaluation and decision-making related to the Club and its activities
  •   Give all children equal opportunities to participate
  •   Make sure that rules, equipment, length of games and training schedules suit the age, ability and maturing level of participants
  •   Provide quality supervision and instruction for junior players
  •   Children participate for enjoyment – do not over-emphasize the rewards
  •   Help coaches and officials highlight appropriate behaviour and skill development and assist in improving the standards of coaching and officiating
  •  Ensure everyone involved in the Club emphasizes FAIR PLAY, not winning at all costs
  •  Set an example – your behaviour and comments should be positive and supportive.
